There's no better way to describe it. We had such an awesome weekend with friends, family and just a whole lot of fun.
Friday afternoon the girls and I had our riding lesson. We had had to reschedule it from earlier in the week due to church camp. This time we actually did a little riding. So now I can say that I have ridden a horse. Guess that's one more thing I can mark off my list! I think know I was much more apprehensive than either of the girls. Elizabeth and Molly just love it, and Molly was too stinkin' cute on her pony. I snapped this photo of her while she was leading Whispy back to her stall.
Friday evening Christy and I met for our 9-mile run. We got a late start and it got dark on us before we were finished. We probably did 7 to 7.5 miles before Chris picked us up. Going to try to get in a couple of runs this week.
We had an early morning Saturday. It was Dairy Day on the square and Molly was in the Dairy Maid contest. This was Elizabeth's last year to be eligible, but she decided she wanted to just cheer on her sister instead. It's really a lot of fun. There are baking contests, an ice cream eating contest, cow milking contest and then of course the beauty contest where all the little girls are dressed up in cute little outfits. Just a lot of fun and not your typical pageant. Molly was all about it and got to see a lot of her friends from pre-school and church. Here she is waiting for the contest to begin. She was so cute and wanted to carry a basket of strawberries so that it would look like she had been in the field picking them. :-)
She was a little more excited about it this year. You might remember this picture or this one from last year. She made the Top Ten again this year so we were really excited for her. And we were very excited when her friend, Alison, won! Alison's brother, AJ, escorted Molly in the pageant at our county fair last fall.
Dairy Day was a lot of fun, but it was also very hot. So the free ice cream was VERY nice!
So you met Marisa in my last post. Well, Marisa is the daughter of Chris' cousin, Christy, who is visiting from Arizona.
Christy and her husband, Jason, rented a lake house for the weekend and invited us to come up for supper on Saturday night. After we got there we walked down to the lake.
It didn't take long before the kids were all three wet.
And then we went back to the house where we all hung out
while Jason cooked us a killer meal in the awesome gourmet kitchen.
Sunday afternoon Chris had a a grilling class so it was just me and the kiddos at home. Try as I may they just would not let me take a nap. It was like a repeat of the Sunday afternoon before. Molly had fallen asleep during church so she wasn't sleeping and before long Elizabeth and Molly were both playing in the family room floor beside the couch where I was trying to nap. Finally I gave up and instead decorated the foyer table that has been sitting empty since Chris put it together probably a month ago.
I did the foyer with a beach theme last summer and loved it, so I decided to do it again this year. Just makes me happy when I walk through there and see some of my favorite photos (That's the reflection of the sun through the front door you see on the frames.)
And I had to include our vacation book from last fall. All the shells are ones that we have collected on our trips to Amelia Island. I still have a couple more buckets full!
So this really got me to looking forward to our trip this fall. Cannot wait!

Looks like you are getting quite good at using that camera! Your shots are great! Has it been a big learning curve or are you just falling into it naturally? Sounds like a crazy busy weekend!
