Last Sunday morning started as any other Sunday morning. We got ready for church, grabbed a bite to eat on the way out the door and hurried into the Navigator. I noticed as I was pulling on my seatbelt and closing the door in the same motion that there was a CD on the console. I asked Chris what it was, and it he said it was for me. Hmmmm…. a mystery CD on the console is not part of our usual Sunday morning routine.
I found an open slot in the CD player, and slid it in. As soon as I heard the first note, I knew what it meant.
The CD had one song on it.
The song from our wedding.
Our song.
I found out a month or two ago that Bryan Adams was coming to Huntsville. I knew it was August, and I told Chris that I wanted to go for my birthday. I didn’t remember when the concert was exactly, and really with the day-to-day chaos that is my life, I had forgotten about it for the most part.
As the song was playing, he handed me the tickets he had hidden above the sun visor. They were for that night! Much squealing commenced!
He had arranged for my mom to come over to watch the kids and get them in bed since the next day was a school night. We went out to dinner and then on to the concert.
It had probably been 20 years since we saw Bryan Adams in Nashville at the Municipal Auditorium. He is my favorite artist of all time. I cringe when someone attempts to sing one of his song. No one can compare to him. There is just not another voice like his.
This was part of his Bare Bones tour. No opening act. Small concert hall venue. Just him and his piano player. Perfection.
I didn’t want it to end.
It was the perfect birthday gift for me.
I love my thoughtful husband.
Oh, and sweetie, if you want just a little something for my actual birthday, I have a suggestion.
